What hay costs in New Mexico

BaleWise tracks 91 hay listings in New Mexico, 42 with listed prices, checked October 20, 2026. Every price is the seller’s own, per bale, next to the size of bale it buys. Nothing is converted, estimated, or averaged into a number the seller never quoted.

Large squares run $80.00 to $210 a bale across prices from 19 sellers, with a midpoint of $150. 2-string bales: $5.00 to $14.00 across prices from 8 sellers.

Verdicts on the board above compare a listing against other Mountain West listings of the same bale size, at least 6 of them, or we don’t rate it at all. It is the same yardstick the region board uses, so a listing carries the same verdict on either page.

This board shows New Mexico only. Buying near a state line? The full Mountain West board includes sellers just over it.

How we check

Every price is real and re-checked; every row shows its own date.

Medians count one price per seller and compare only bales of the same size. Fewer than six sellers of a size and we say nothing.
