The fine print, in plain English.

The short version

• BaleWise is an information service. We list hay prices; we don’t sell hay, and we’re not part of any sale between you and a seller.
• Always confirm with the seller before hauling. Prices, stock, and quality change fast, and the seller’s word beats our board.
• The ✓ Verified badge means the seller filled in that listing themselves. It does not mean we inspected the hay. The full definition is here.
• From visitors we collect only what you type into our forms, plus standard usage analytics. Seller contact details mostly come from what the seller already published. We never sell your information.
• Listing a seller is not an endorsement, and no seller pays to be listed. The one thing money buys, a Promoted spot, is labelled where you see it, and board order is never for sale.
• Sellers: want a listing changed or removed? One message and it’s handled.

Using BaleWise

BaleWise (balewise.com) is a public price board. By using it you agree to a few common-sense terms:

• Information only.Everything on the board, prices, bale sizes, verdicts, distances, is provided for your information, as-is, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, or availability. Prices and sizes are what the seller stated and can be out of date or wrong; we never estimate a bale weight or a bale size the seller did not give us. Distances are straight-line from town centers, and “good deal” verdicts are math, not advice.
• We’re not a party to your purchase.Any sale happens directly between you and the seller, on their terms. BaleWise isn’t responsible for the quality, safety, delivery, or existence of any hay listed, or for any dispute between buyers and sellers.
• Third-party links.Listings link to sellers’ own websites and ads. Those sites are theirs, their content, their policies.
• Don’t abuse the board.No scraping that hammers the site, no submitting fake listings or fake claims, no using the contact forms to spam.

What “verified” means

There are two different things on this board, and the difference matters.

Most listings are built from public sources. A farm’s website, a current classified ad, a state directory entry. “Checked June 12, 2026” on one of those means that on that date we saw that source showing that price. Usually we did not speak to the seller, a few of these prices were quoted to us by email, but most were simply published where we found them. That is why those listings say checked and not verified, the two words mean different things on this site, deliberately.

A listing with the ✓ Verified badge came from the seller. They filled in their own listing on our form, their hay, their price, their photo, their contact details. That’s the whole claim: the information is first-hand, from the person selling it. Keeping it current is up to them, and every listing shows the date it was last confirmed so you can judge that for yourself.

What ✓ Verified does not mean. We have not inspected the hay, tested it, weighed a bale, visited the farm, or checked anyone’s identity or business licence. We are not grading quality and we are not vouching for the seller. A badge tells you where the information came from, nothing more.

None of it is a guarantee. Sellers sell out, edit ads, and change prices between our checks. Which is why it’s at the bottom of the board, and why it’s worth repeating here: always confirm with the seller before hauling.

Paid placement

One thing on this board can be paid for: Promoted, a clearly labelled spot above one region’s board that a seller books for a fixed run. The full rules and prices live in the Terms of Service. Listings themselves are free: no seller pays to be listed, and a Promoted seller’s actual listing stays exactly where the board’s sorting puts it.

The policy that governs anything paid, now and later:

• Anything paid gets labelled, clearly, where you see it.Not in a footnote, not in this page only. The Promoted strip says what it is, on the strip itself.
• Board order is not for sale.The board sorts by distance and price. Paying us does not move a seller up it, and it does not change a price, a bale size, or a verdict.
• Paying does not buy a badge that implies something untrue.A ✓ Verified listing means what the section above says it means, whether the seller paid for anything or not.
• A warning stays a warning.No seller can pay to have a stale price, a missing bale size, or a dead link hidden.

If any of that ever stops being true, this section changes first and the date at the top of the page changes with it.

Sell hay

• What you’re agreeing to.When you submit the claim form you’re asking us to publish the details you entered, and confirming they’re yours to publish and accurate as of that day.
• What we publish.Your farm or business name, town, hay details, price, photo, and the contact details you gave us. Your email goes on the listing unless you tick the box asking us not to show it. Either way we keep it so we can reach you about the listing.
• How fast.We build your listing and post it as quickly as we can, usually within a couple of days. You’ll get a confirmation email the moment you submit, and the listing itself appears once it’s built. Everything about your listing is handled over email.
• Keeping it current.Every listing shows buyers the date it was last checked. Past about six weeks yours gets marked as needing a re-check, and past about eight weeks it stops appearing in the main list until you confirm it’s still good. It isn’t deleted, and an update from your account, or one email, restores it. We don’t yet send a reminder before that happens, so if anything changes (price, stock, sold out), update it from your account or email us.
• Changing or removing it.Email contact@balewise.com. Changes go up with the next update, and removals we handle promptly, usually the same day we see them. With a free account you can edit, hide, or mark your hay sold yourself, straight from the board.
• We still aren’t part of the sale.Buyers contact you directly. We don’t take a cut, hold money, or broker anything.
• The paid option: Promoted.Optional, always. Listings and accounts stay free. Promoted is a one-time purchase that puts a labelled spot above one region’s board for a fixed run you pick, 14 days ($59), 30 days ($99), or 90 days ($229), then it comes down on its own. Nothing renews, and board order is never for sale. The full rules, including refunds, are in the Terms of Service.

Privacy

• Forms.When you use a form (asking a seller a question, claiming a listing, contacting us), we receive exactly what you typed, usually a name, an email or phone, a ZIP code, or listing details. We use it to do the thing you asked for: pass your question to that seller, build your listing, or answer you.
• Who handles it along the way.The site runs on services that necessarily see some of this: Netlify hosts the site and receives form submissions, Resend delivers our email, Supabase is the database the board is mirrored into and handles seller sign-in, Stripe processes card payments for sellers who buy Promoted (card numbers go to Stripe, never to us), and Google provides analytics, the page fonts, and the optional “Continue with Google” sign-in. The map page also loads its tiles from CARTO. Each processes data to provide its service to us, under its own terms. The Privacy Policy links every service’s own policy. We don’t authorize any of them to sell your information or to advertise to you on our behalf.
• Seller emails.Most listings here were built from something the seller had already published (their own website, a classified ad, a state directory), and where that source showed an email address, it’s on the listing. If you claimed your listing yourself, your email goes on it unless you tick the box asking us not to show it.
  However it got there, we use it for two things: passing on messages buyers send you through the Ask button, and emailing you about your own listing, a receipt when you claim one, and anything we need to ask to keep it right. We don’t add you to a newsletter, and you won’t get sales calls from us. Don’t want to be listed, or don’t want the emails? Tell us and it stops.
• Analytics.We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which features get used, which pages, which filters, which areas get searched, and which listings get opened, called, emailed or saved. It’s standard and cookie-based. We use it to see what the board is being used for, not to build a picture of you.
• Saved listings stay on your device.The ♥ saves live in your browser’s local storage. The list itself is never uploaded, and clearing your browser data removes it. Tapping ♥ does count as an event in our analytics, like any other button on the site.
• What we never do: sell your information, or share a buyer’s email with a seller unless the buyer chose to send that seller a message.
• Want something deleted?Message us and we’ll remove your form submissions on request.

Sellers & sources

• Public sources.The board lists prices that sellers have already published publicly (their websites, classified ads, directories) or given us directly. Farm and business names belong to their owners; we use them only to identify whose price is whose.
• No affiliation.A listing is not an endorsement of the seller by BaleWise, or of BaleWise by the seller. Most sellers simply published a price, and we found it.
• Corrections and removal.If a listing about you is wrong, or you want off the board entirely, tell us. Corrections go out with the next update, and removals we handle promptly, usually the same day we see them.
• Our work is the compilation.The board’s data gathering, verification, math, and presentation are © 2026 BaleWise. Quote it with credit; don’t republish it wholesale as your own.
• Who runs this.BaleWise is run by Hiro Holdings LLC. Anything on this page, or any question about a listing, reaches us at contact@balewise.com.

Changes

BaleWise is young and this page will evolve with it. When it does, the date at the top changes. Big changes (anything that affects your privacy) will be called out on the board page, not buried here.
